Default Complete Beginner, need advice!
Hello Everyone,

I want to learn web design on my own. However, whenever I try to read articles or even these postings I feel completely illiterate because I do not know the terminology. Is there a general website that explains the terminology so that I can actually read a sentence without having to Google every word to find out what it is?

Also if you have any recommendations for websites and books that help beginners that is easy to follow and will not put me to sleep every time I try to read it?

Here are a few links to get you started. Start with some basic HTML & then move onto CSS.

w3schools

tizag

htmldog

My recommendation for a book would be CSS: The Missing Manual.

Learning web design is fun! Good luck!

There's also a HTML Basics series on VAF (courtesy of our own Codehead). I recommend you check into that (7 lessons at last count, I believe) as a great way to 'get your feet wet' and start understanding the basics. The first lesson is located here.

Depending on the type of website you are trying to build, I have heard the Wordpress for Dummies book is a good one and it is available on Amazon for under $20.
