I just had to share this very cool & helpful add-on for FireFox. It is called ColorZilla. http://www.colorzilla.com/firefox/

It has helped me greatly when I need a html code for a color and it is very easy to use.

Hee, hee.

That makes me think of something that happened to my husband. He does website programming. He was dealing with a customer who wanted a certain shade of blue. He did up the page and sent it to her, she said that wasn't quite right. He mentioned that people are looking at the site from different monitors and it might not even show up as she wants it if they've played with the colour and contrast on their monitor. She wanted that specific shade of blue, after about 5 different 'shades' of blue she made a comment (jokingly) about how women have over 200 colours and men only have 8. Being completely fed up at this point but not wanting to tell her off he sent her a link to a page that has the full html colour listing and said "That's my palate, pick one."

She did pick one, nothing else was mentioned in the email.

Thanks for sharing! I think that's one of the big challenges on website colors is the variations in monitors! I think I will do the same thing with my new client to be sure she picks the colors she likes from her monitor.

I toyed with different colors but in the end opted for something from the web-safe palette. I'm not sure that these days you need to restrict yourself to that palette but I liked the color I chose and felt I couldn't go wrong that way.
