How critical is it to have all my marketing materials have the same template design? I'm planning on using a really cool powerpoint background template for my website, but I'm not sure I want to use it for my business cards. And I think it's too dark to use for my other marketing material, such as letterhead, envelopes, brochures etc.
Is it a big no-no to use different templates in the marketing world?

I don't know much about marketing, but I think it helps to brand your company if you use the same design. An idea - alter the design somewhat for your stationary. You could change the colors to lighter ones or extract a small section of the design instead of using the whole thing. I'm sure others will have lots of good ideas.

Good question, Tanja! I'll be curious to see what the marketers have to say.

This is a question I'm struggling with right now as well. I'm trying to have a tag line and logo that will work well with both website and business cards (brochure, too, if I ever get around to doing one). And keep similar colors. It's getting tough, though, because I like what I have for my website, but can't seem to translate that well into a business cards, so right now they're different. Working on a picture that I can use for a logo that will work for both, but I am not there yet! Good luck Tanja.

Pam, I actually got my website background and my BC to be the same. I love it. I haven't worried about a brochure yet, but I did come up with a letterhead which has my logo/name, but not my background, since that is dark blue in color.
