Default Vistaprint: Very Disappointing!
I first began using Vistaprint many years ago and I've always been satisfied with the quality and their rates were very reasonable.

I've just recently decided to start using them again and placed an order. Currently they have a special $10 for 250 Premium business cards. Well before I knew it this order was well over $40!

There is a fee for everything! A fee for uploading your logo, color, the finish(matte or glossy) and whatever else you can think of to make your business card look like a normal business card.

So now the day comes that the business cards arrive. What a DISAPPOINTMENT! The quality is horrible! The colors are dull and their so call glossy is anything but that! The edges of the cards were slightly lifting , this is the flimsiest paper and totally not suitable for business cards.

I ordered Vista's free business cards for myself in the past when I was an Avon representative and the quality wasn't too bad for something that was free.

The thing that really irks me about this is that there is VERY little difference between the quality of their so call Premium cards and the Freebies.

With all of that said, is there another printing company out there that you all use and find the quality to be better for the money? Even if I have to pay more that's fine because these are totally unacceptable.

That's a shame you had an experience like that.

I've used Vistaprint for both of my business cards (I had to redo them because of my change of logo), and my flyer, and I've never had a problem with them.

I hope you manage to find another printing company.

My husband and I ordered our business cards from them and had a totally different experience. And our order was only $15 each, with both sides printed. Perhaps there was a problem in the printing. You may like to consider talking to them directly.

Thanks Alice and I hope so too. I was absolutely shocked, have never had a bad experience with them before now.

@ Melissa, how long ago did you and your husband order through them?

That's another thing I was charged extra for, printing on the front and the back. uhhh.

Sharon,

I have used Vista Print before however I have since found a local guy. I did not have a problem with them but I like to support local peeps if I can. I found him through a networking group and his deals are better then Vista and the quality is perfect.

Ask around your community or any network groups you belong to. You may be surprised to find a "little" local guy (or gal) who can work with you and provide the quality that you should have.

Hi Sharon,
I had my business cards designed by someone and then printed at Vistaprint. I was on the phone with the customer service 3 or 4 times before I even printed them just to make sure I was doing everything correct.

When they came, the borders were off with some of the 150 cards so I called Vistaprint up and talked with the service people and they promptly reprinted them.

I would call them up and talk with the service people. They were so happy to fix their problem.

You're not the first person who I've heard from lately that has been disappointed in Vistaprint.
I'm a big, big fan of Moo cards. The quality is better than many cards I've received that were done at local print shops. I order in quantities of 50, but that's because I'm always needing to make changes and I don't necessarily hand them out all that often.
They also have some great examples of how other people have used their service to create amazingly creative cards.

I have used vistaprint for many projects. I have yet to have an issue with them. The only thing I would say, if anything, is the shipping costs. Other than that, which unless they offer fee shipping, they have been great. As a matter of fact, I am waiting for my new order any day now.

I am also a HUGE fan of Moo.com. They are a bit pricier but the service and quality you get beats everyone else.

I use both Vista Print and Moo. I like Moo for fun and the fact that I can get several different designs on the same order. I like Vista Print because they have provided me with inexpensive, good quality product. However, since they have ramped up their advertising in my area, their prices are have gone up, they charge for everything--areas where they never charged before, they now charge. Shipping is almost outrageous. But then I think that many companies who ship products use shipping and handling as, dare I say, a way to gouge customers.
So, I am going to do as Lee suggests and look for a local printer.

I had my business cards done from Vistaprint and was not impressed, although do understand that you get what you pay for. When I finally run out of my current stock I'll probably try Moo or another vendor. Vistaprint are cheap but not great quality, in my opinion.

I've had good results with VistaPrint. I usually order when they have great deals going on, ie, extras or shipping for free. The one thing I don't like is that they delete a card design if you don't order it. Sometimes I take my time designing the card, especially if I'm not time-crunched to order, and it gets deleted before I'm ready to order it. Once you order, the design stays in your account, but if you design it and don't order that design within a certain time frame, they delete it and you have to redo it. I'm going to look into Moo as another option, I hear they have a lot of really cool-looking stuff.

I've used Vistaprint for both cards and flyers and I do think that you get what you pay for. They were of a suitable enough quality for when I was just starting out however, now that I am attending a lot of networking groups, it is very noticeable that other business people can tell the Vistaprint cards from a mile away and just don't take you as seriously. That's my experience from networking in the UK which may be different from the US.

Having said that I have found a few local printers who have printed some of my business stationery for me and the quality is great and they are not that much more expensive than Vistaprint once you have added on all of their extras.

Thanks for the tip about Moo though - I'll have a look at their site.

YES

Completely agree, and it's why I only ever buy products from Moo now. Their quality is heaps better than Vistaprint and they're still good value for money.

I have used Vista print for a couple of different things, and I do agree the prices are much higher for the quality you get than they used to be. I have found a couple of local printers that I use. They are a little more expensive but I don't pay the shipping charges because I can go pick up what I need or it is not as expensive because it is local delivery. I am going to check out moo.com but I always like to refer local businesses to my customers, and I like to know they will do a good job. I always use them first before I refer but you get a better quality, and the customer service you get locally is just much better as well.
