I'd like to clarify for those who may not be familiar with IVAA and what it can offer. IVAA is a non-profit organization and the closest thing the virtual assistant industry has to a trade association with a membership in the range of 600 members from 16 countries. They provide continuing education, a forms library, the IVAANet listserv, IVAACast newsletter archives, access to online meetings of interest to VAs and transcripts of those meetings. They offer a certification process, a member directory, access to RFPs, free web hosting as well as putting on a live convention every year. They have a mentoring program and a mastermind group for both 5+ year VAs and for those with less than 5 years in business. It is run by some extraordinarily hardworking and amazing VAs who dedicate themselves to promoting the virtual assistant industry and do so all on a volunteer basis. IVAA is not someplace to go just to receive job leads but a chance to share and learn from VAs who are true advocates for the industry as well as have some fun doing it!

@Kate...very well said!!! Sometimes it's not just about job leads. It's about educating yourself to always be ahead of the game so you can better yourself, your company and give your clients the best you can offer. One can never stop learning!!!

@Kate Thank you. As a person learning about the business, I am more interested in correctly starting-up and learning from established VAs, than I am RFPs. I know that the job leads and clients will come but if I do not have a firm foundation, then I will just flounder and not really succeed. This is why I enjoy this forum so much.

@Kate I quite agree it does offer more, but the OP was implying she was looking to join an association with the key factor in her decision being job leads... and it was on that basis that I made my comment.
