So right off the bat I got offered a job with an agency. The work was constant, I was working with a few clients.

I found myself doing a lot of techy assignments, web banner creation, html work and word press. Not really exactly what I wanted to do in an agency but work is work.

The demands that the clients wanted weighed against my payscale really discouraged me. They wanted work I should have been getting paid a couple hunderd dollars to do not pennies on the dollar.

It just got too much and I questioned even if I was cut out for this...

Has anyone else had simular experiences?

I did learn that my web skills are definetly needed, and I learned my work is good enough for the general public not just friends and family. I also learned that I need to value my time and skills accordingly.

First of all, is tech work what you want to be doing? If so, then you got a little taste as to how it will be working for actual clients in that area. If not, you stll gained some experience and know where you stand on that.

I think you have to consider this as a learning experience for yourself. You sound like you learned some valuable lessons.

Also, remember that an agency probably won't pay you what you are worth. On a positive note, you were able to play around with your skills and make some self-discovery.

In all of your jumbling (which I didn't think you were doing - and I am very good at doing that myself, too!), I think you just answered your own question.

Tech work is not at ALL what I want to do.

I want to ideally keep it strickly administrative with occasional tech stuff.

I think since they knew I had experience I got most of the techy clients. I had wanted to work for a more administrative client and was steered away from it.

I think the fact that I am back and interested means that this is something to pursue. The bad thing was that during this time, I was up for a gig on elance which I declined to complete since I was already so over booked.

I know this is an older post, but I'm in this position right now. I'm working with an agency, I love the work, love most of the clients, but just feel like I'm not getting paid what I'm worth. I also have no choice in the work or clients I have.
I can't wait to get my business up and running It's definitely a huge learning experience for me though!
