Question Wikipedia - help!
Hi there,

Does anyone have any experience with creating Wikipedia pages?

I have managed to create a page for a client but I can't get it live. I understand that I need to be an "autoconfirmed user" and I believe I have passed the criteria - i.e. member for 4 days and my edit count is above 20 (altho these are all my own edits - do I need to contribute elsewhere?).

However, I have not been "auto-confirmed"... but I don't know how to find out why...

The Wiki site seems too busy to be able to solve individual problems.

Any clues would be much appreciated! Donna

Hi Donna,

Is the page you created for your client marketing a product or service? Wiki will not publish promotional pages.

Trena is right - unless your client is a figurehead of some kind he or she cannot have their own Wiki page... so before you go to much trouble trying to work out the details, double check their criteria for publication to ensure your client qualifies.

Regarding the autoconfirmation, I haven't been on Wikipedia in ages but would imagine there is some kind of option in your account to re-send the autoconfirmation email.

Thanks for the comments - I am "auto-confirmed" now and tripping my way around most of the Wikipedia stuff - I won't say it is easy, but I am gradually getting things sorted!

My client is the estate of a deceased artist who was a member of the Royal Society of Watercolour Painters. There have been no objections to the page so far, and I have a reasonable number of references to his work and history. Fingers crossed!

Donna
