Default What's your "go-to" Marketing tactic?
A successful marketing plan includes a mix of strategies and tactics to find your audience where they are and prove your value as a service provider. But today I'm wondering what is the one thing that has worked best for you in the past? Does Networking bring in most of your clients or does your blog really reel them in? I'd love to know!

In all honesty, asking for referrals and word-of-mouth is now and has always been my most successful marketing tool.

Social networking etc. are all good options too but there is nothing like a very happy client who is literally selling your services for you (and in the process teaching people what you do and how you do it)!

Referrals are a huge part of my business now. I still F2F network which sometimes brings in projects and one-off items.

Same here. Referrals - but I would like to emphasize that it needs to be through relationship building. Not old fashioned sales tactics. Over the last few years the paradigm has changed in the world of marketing. It is more "pull" marketing than "push."

As the adage goes (I wish we could find something a little more original)...but people do business with people they know, like, and trust. I never hand out a business card unless I am asked for one. I focus on a giver's gain mindset - which works wonders because most people appreciate you more and are more willing to reciprocate - and in general just making sure I have built great relationships. The payoff then is huge.

Blogging and other social media - especially since we are virtual - is awesome for helping us build those relationships and building credibility. Out of that along with F2F networking helps us build solid referral networking. I think a good strategy does require some diversity.

Referrals and SEO/website are pretty much my only two, and I'd have to say they're probably tied. Occasionally I'll get a call from someone who was looking in the yellow page book. And I've never done any of the other things in the list at all except for SM and my blog.
