Question What should I put in a press release?
I have had my Virtual Assistant business for some years now, but I've never done a press release for the business. Is it too late, first of all? Second-- What do I include in a Press Release for a business that is already launched.

You could highlight how long you have been in business, what services you have recently added and professional development that you have undertaken. I would imagine that you business has changed since you first started and, if some of the changes are new, it's a great time to get the word out. It's never too late for a press release as long as you make the content fit your current circumstances.

Please let us know if you decide to do one & how you make out with it.

Hi Aqeelah (what a gorgeous name, by the way )
I don't think it's ever too late to send a press release - so I'd say, go for it!

Your press release could highlight a new service you've started offering (or you could make an existing service sound new or updated), it could announce a partnership with a new client, an award or similar you've received. Or, focus on what's unique about what you do and/or who you work with and/or how you work.

Other possibilities: Has your practice 'gone green', brought on a new high-end software or service that will benefit your clients, or donated time to a cause?

I'll look forward to hearing back if and when you decide to send one!

I am also in the same boat. I have been in business for over two years and have never done a press release. Is there a specific format I should follow? Also, where is the best place to post? Has anyone sent a press release anywhere within their locality?

Shelley, have you read through some of the posts here in the Press Release section? It's a great place to find answers to your different questions.

Also, check out this live chat event we hosted here at VAF a while back with PR virtual assistant Diana Ennen: Insider Secrets to Press Release Magic.

She talks about release format and shares her list of top sites for submission.

I hope that helps!
