* created my direct e-mail (still need to get a whole load of e-mail addresses though!)
* added my site to search engines such as Google and Yahoo! (am currently #5 on Yahoo! when searching "office butterfly", but i can't find myself on other pages
* created a ask my stuff space
* created a orkut account
* nearly finished my brochure
* currently drafting my first press release - eeeeeeeek!! (i don't know what to say, etc...!!)

Julia, it's great that you're really diversifying your marketing efforts!
As to press releases - try starting with a brainstorm of all the major accomplishments related to your business (things like website launch, practice launch, adding a major new service, partnering with a very important client [just be sure it's OK with the client on this one!], business anniversary, new certification or volunteer commitment, etc.)

Once you have your list, see if any one stands out or if more than one are related somehow - then start working on the approach that helps people understand why this is newsworthy.

Good luck and be sure to post back/start a new thread if/when you've got something started!

Finished my banner - the client says he is attaching it to his email list of hunting/fishing guides with their reminder that annual subscriptions are due (this is a list of approx 600 people )

Mailed "Tax time is almost here. Are your accounting records up to date?" postcards to all new LLCs registered during last July in Boulder County.

Well this week I:
-signed up on a BUNCH of networking sites, some directed specifically to the construction industry (one day I'll put them in a list)
-sent out 30 postcards to local contractors
-hubby put my business cards on the bulletin board at the general store (where all the construction guys stop for coffee in the morning)
-ordered professionally printed business cards (finally)
-submitted my name to several search engines and yellow page listings
-contacted a few coworkers, from current job, and told them about my company. They all were very enthusiastic and asked me to send them some business cards and brochures to hand out to the clients they know need me.

Whew!
So today, except for checking up on all my morning internet stops, I am taking a day off from everything. We are supposed to get some of that "Heavy Dew" (I refuse to use the "s" word) tonight into tomorrow so hubby will be heading out to plow early morning.
Gotta enjoy him while I have him.

Happy Sunday everyone!

Due to personal reasons, I haven't had time to visit this site and/or work on my business... BUT today I have had my e-mail read out *by a dj i like!!!* (see one of my other threads RE finding clients) and he visited my site and he thinks it's a good idea so wins all round!! Of course I will be sending that DJ a e-mail once the business is launched!!

right, today alone, I have done....:
(prepare for long list!!)

* created free-ads on a couple of popular free ads websites (UK)
* created a linked-in account
* created a Business account on Facebook (it's free!!) - I also created a professional webpage for facebook (I will be keeping it separate from my personal account though)
* researched for any media/radio networking sites in the UK (ones that will let me post profiles about my business)
* sent off my press releases to the local media

and I've done the above in 1 and a half hours!! Phew!!
