Default Using Kijiji or Craigslist?
Has anyone tried to use Kijiji or Craigslist to advertise? How has that worked for you?

I also was thinking of answering ads place on either website with information about my business.... is this tacky?

Looking forward to you opinions,
Thanks,
Gayle

I use both, but the main benefit is that google goes there too, and your ad will pop up in google search results when your key words in the ad are searched. That is one way clients are finding me. I don't think too many people would actually look at craigs of kijiji for a VA, unless they want one dirt cheap, which doesn't really benefit you at all. Expect to receive lots of spam. I don't think It's not tacky at all to offer your business as an alternative.

I also use Kijiji....I have also emailed business's that were looking for assistants and offered my services as an alternative..so far. No bites on that part. But yes definately expect a lot of spam and phone calls from the bargain finder??? which was weird.

I am planning on advertising on Craigslist, but I also plan on creating an alternate e-mail addres on hotmail or google or something. I don't want all the potential junk and wackos e-mailing my regular business account. I think any (legal) way to get the word out about your business is good.

Mary, craigs give you a link people can respond to without having your actual email address. You get to keep that confidential, and craigs then forwards the responses to you.

I have used the craig's list link because I didn't want the spam to my regular email account. At least, this filters the spam and only receive inquiries from my postings.

I will use craigslist to post ads as well as look for businesses who are in search of a employee. I will and also google/yahoo to place ads. I also have business contacts from working in the Federal government and law firms so hopefully I can pull from there to get clients. Networking will also be a source for me. Targeting small businesses at first. Any other pointers would be greatly appreciated.

I was surfing around and found this post from a few weeks ago and wanted to let everyone know that Kijiji is now Ebay Classifieds. Seems that it is a good site to post to.
