Yes I was looking into the Queens Chamber of Commerce last week but I think it's $370 to join (I can't tell if that's yearly or a one time fee) and I don't have the funds right now. I do plan on joining at some point though after I make my business legal and file a business certificate with the county which I should be done within the next month.

I found that a good way to find companies in your area is to subscribe to Hoovers or Bressers databases. They will list all companies within a certain industry and you can download them to an excel spreedsheet or cv file.

Could you expand on this a little more? I googled those sites but I can't for the life of me figure out how to sign up for their database. There's a lot of information on there.

My experience with Craigslist has been bad. So far I have only run into scams. People wanting to transfer money into my account and etc. Ill look into the other methods and sites you guys have mentioned.

Paulette, I'd also be interested in Hoovers or Bressers database information. Once you got this info - what marketing strategy did you use to acquire clients? Was it successful?

I still haven't figured out how to get a list of their database.
