Default Target Market
I've had a couple of meetings with marketing professionals to assist me with a marketing plan. Both have said they need to know my target market.

Does anyone know how to go about finding a VA's target market?

That really depends on you. You should have an idea of who you want to market to or your niche. Do you have a profession you want to work with? Are the people that make up that profession generally younger or older? What is there income? Small Business or Large Business? What is it that you specialize in? What are your skills this will help you choose a market? When you narrow down your target you are not saying that is the only market you will work with but your marketing style will reflect what attracts that market most-giving you the most bang for your buck.

In looking at my own marketing strategy, some of the areas that I've looked at include:

What are my "best" marketable skills.
* computer software packages
* industry specific knowledge
* areas of expertise or very knowledgeable
* business specific knowledge base (ie, software, licensures, etc)

This is a good way to see how you can best be utilized by a company, start with what you already know and are comfortable with, then move onto new skillsets. If you are more industry specific, that can be a start for your marketing. Your local chamber of commerce usually will post their membership listing by alphabet or industry. You can also create your own listing based on newspapers, yellow pages, chamber of commerce listings to pull together what you feel is a good target market.
