Hey everyone - I just came across this site today, written by a woman who offers marketing services to small businesses. She has a ton of good tips and ideas, plus she's really funny. Her tag line is "Work from home tips to help you stay sane".

There's a great series of posts called "Marketing: Where to Spend Your Money" that's really useful for people who are confused about all the marketing and advertising choices and not sure where to spend their money.

Please note: This site is really good and filled with alot of useful information, and the writer is HILARIOUS but if you're offended by bad language you should probably avoid it. She is a self-described "Potty Mouth"!

Tess, I thought of you when I read that and the story you mentioned about the website client yesterday!

I have a potential client right now who wants to eventually make her website a subscription based site. Unfortunately, she did the site herself and it looks that way. I'll have to be very diplomatic. If she wants to position herself as an "expert" in her field, her website has to reflect that, especially if she wants people to pay for it! It's just difficult right now since she's not a client yet - I'm not sure how to go about telling her all this without her thinking I'm just saying that because I want to get the work!

Maybe try asking her how she feels about her site...chances are she's already on that page or at least suspecting that she needs to be

I wasted about an hour looking over her blog tonight and know I could definitely spend another few hours there. She's such a good writer and the articles are all interesting and useful. Plus, I spit soda out of my nose at one point over something funny she wrote. Haven't had a good laugh like that in awhile.

Update:

I received the nicest email from Naomi who is the Blogger/Writer of IttyBiz thanking me for posting the link to her site here yesterday. I was completely shocked, to say the least! She said she had been getting alot of traffic from the forum and stopped by to check us out, saw the thread about her site, so she just wanted to say thanks! Even more shocking was that it was a REAL email from a real live human, not a form email sent automatically from a computer program like I've gotten when I subscribed to other sites and blogs.

Needless to say, I'll definitely be checking out her site from now on, not only because she's a great writer, provides great information and she's hilarious, but also because she took the time to say thanks. She appreciates people reading her blog and takes the time to say so. "Thank you" is a really powerful phrase. It really made my night to hear something nice and positive for a change.

This brings up a really good question - when was the last time you took the time to thank your clients (or subscribers to your blog) personally? I know I'm going to try harder to show my appreciation to my clients.

Yes, i find the unexpected Thank-you to put a smile on my face as well. Maybe it's something I should aim at doing more in the morning, to also brighten someone else's day.
