Default Need Help Writing Ad
My volunteer client is starting a newsletter which I'm basically in charge with. The first newsletter is pretty much done but she asked me to include an ad for my business. She's got over a hundred people on her list and I'm really trying to make it the best ad because of the potential for new clients. Any help would be great! This is what I have (and don't really like)

Do you own a small business? Need to get organized or need administrative work done? We can get it done virtually!!

I just feel like it could be better but I don't know how.

Here are a few tips online I found about how to create print ads. It's probably more for getting noticed in newspapers, but I would think the tips would be helpful to use as a rule for any print ad situation.

As for graphics, I would maybe stick to using a nice image of your logo. I don't think you'd want it to be too busy. Depending on how large the ad is and what you're logo is, you could put a smaller graphic in the corner or something. Maybe of someone sitting at a keyboard (clip art) so they see that and can get an immediate idea of what the ad is about, especially if you're logo doesn't scream VA.

And definitely make sure your contact info is on there.

Good luck

I'm having the same sort of problem!!

I'm *really* considering putting an ad in an advertisment paper that's out every week in the area (which is pretty rural!!). Every word is a dollar each (words such as ad-hoc costs $2)... As i'm on a budget and don't want to be spening more than $16 dollars each week my words are 'limited' What would you say in an advertisment that would sell (in under 20 words)??

Look forward to reading your thoughts!

Cheers

First, change ad-hoc to adhoc (makes it one word).

When I did this business years ago, I had success with a classified in our local once a week paper, so go for it! Our town's newspaper is way too expensive for classifieds and when I ran one in the beginning, I got calls from people looking for work, so be prepared for that.

How about using:

Lia Neal offers exceptional admin services including word processing, transcription, presentations, data services and desktop publishing Call +######### www.website_address/

That tells exactly what you do, includes your domain name, phone number and has about 20 words.
