Hi,

There are several posts with fabulous tips on getting clients, but I would start with this review on "Get Clients Now!". It may help you find what you are looking for. Good luck!

I tell everyone to start close. Cold call potential businesses close to you and start by offering one particular task to them. Once you get a client, then start doing offering them more services. Once you've built up your toolkit of services that you do start going further afield by joining online networks and talking to other businesses.

I personally don't believe in cold calling, but you need to work your network. I've gotten clients the fastest by going out and MEETING people and telling them what I do. You can also go door to door. Visit small businesses in your community and just tell them that you are a small business as well and just wanted to let them know what you did -- perhaps have a brochure or something to leave with them

I perhaps should have been more prescriptive with my words... cold calling for me would encompass phoning and/or meeting with potential companies or networking with other businesses. I personally don't think that one particular process works everywhere and now that we all work globally I have found that some cold calling via phone works in some aspects and doesn't in others as does meeting with potential businesses.

I would say cold-call and send information brochures. I start with the people in my network, and then I visit local small businesses.
