Default Marketing Question
How many of you have tried marketing your business using either a magnetic sign or a decal on the window of your car?

How successful has it been for you for driving traffic to your site and for gaining new clients?

Thanks!

I've actually just started to look into this as well and think it's a great idea! I keep seeing them around (both vinyl decals and magnets) and I think I like the decals better - they just look more professional in my opinion.

There are also a couple of older conversations on the forums on this very topic which you might find helpful. Also here.

Hi Tess,

Thank you for posting both links -- great information and it sounds like window decals (I agree the decals look better) are the way to go due to magnets getting stolen, paint problems, etc.

We will be looking into that today, and I am encouraged by comments by others who have said that it did help bring in business.

Hi everybody, I've been toying with that idea too, and think it would be great advertising. I don't know how many clients will come from it, but at least people will get to know about you and your business, and when they need your services, or know somebody that does, they will remember you from seeing your car and sign driving around town! That's my theory anyway and I'm sticking to it. :-)

It is a low cost way to get your name out. I know the magnets can fade rather quickly if the coloring on them is dark.

Glad to hear everyone's opinions and your excitement too! My husband can't wait to get our logo. He has not been this excited about something for awhile. LOL...

We off to look at decals again, you know men, everything with cars needs to be perfect.

I believe I commented on this in another thread way back, but here goes. With dark tinted windows, decals won't work for me, though I'm grateful for them as the nose prints and dog drool don't show from the outside

Conscious of cost, a few years ago I bought magnets from VistaPrint. They were OK but very flimsy, falling off at speed and within a year fading and bubbling in the sun.

Last Fall I designed and bought new ones locally and they're terrific ... even stay on going through the carwash. They cost me around $300 but so worth it. I'm meeting with a new client tomorrow. I doubt he found me on the Internet as I've just designed a new website in Wordpress and have yet to promote it. Perhaps he saw the "Wizmobile" around town? I'll find out tomorrow.

You can check out my magnets on the gallery in my website http://wordprowizard.com/gallery.

Lynne

I've used the car magnets before. In a chat with a rep from the Small Biz Development Center she said one of the best places for magnets or business info is on the back window so that any car behind you can see it. That's doesn't work for the kind of car I have but I did put them on the side doors.

Good Morning Lynne & Everyone,

Thanks for posting a picture of your magnets, looks great! Glad to hear it is getting you business.

We decided to go with a window decal that we will place on the back window of our SUV. We ordered 2 (for now) through BuildASign.com and we are excited to get them.

We were pleased with BuildASign's design process, they have tons of templates to choose from or you can use your own design and their prices are pretty reasonable. My husband wanted them here asap, so we paid for higher shipping, but even the shipping was not too bad.

I will let you know how they turn out!
