Hi,
I am still in the research and development phase, but I have been looking at ads just to see what is out there. In my opinion, I would send out both a copy of your resume and a link to your website. It can't hurt either way.

If I were trying to sell my VA services, I would not respond to an employment ad. Instead, I would send my marketing material to the HR recruiter.

This is just the thread I was looking for. I'm glad I'm not the only one going thru Monster.com . I put "German" into the search bar to see which companies are looking for bilingual German speaking persons. I've sent several emails to either the co. directly or the staffing service that had posted the position. I ask them if they could use my VA services in general, not necessarily for that particular job. I haven't had any luck with positive responses yet, but I'll keep on trying. Hopefully one day the right person will get my email.

I have responded to a few. I send a cover letter about my business and a brochure and my resume with my professional experience. I have recieved one call so far....and I actually have 4 more to send out today....we'll see.

I do agree that if nothing else, your spreading the word about VAs and maybe they'll think of you in the future.

I also respond to these ads with a cover letter, my professional bio, and a link to my website. No responses to so far, but I keep trying. Lisa Forbes also created my professional bio and did a fantastic job! She was able to capture my experience in a way I could never have!

Dognose, I think you have the right idea on how to go about this. I will sometimes respond to ads from real estate offices looking for a transaction coordinator, but as soon as there is a business attached, they're no longer interested.

This is the verbiage I've used for listings on Craigslist and I have had a few responses and one taker so it's actually worked for me...

******

I noticed your posting on craigslist seeking an marketing assistant to help with the marketing of your website. Have you thought of joining forces with a Virtual Assistant/Online Business Manager?

I am a professional Online Business Manager and work with key clients by taking care of business so you can do business. Similar to a bookkeeper who handles the processes for cash flow I can manage the administrative tasks for you. I am an online business manager and my role as business manager boils down to one simple thing, I free up your time so that you can focus your time and energy on things that only YOU can do in your business. I jump in and help you manage all aspects of your business. I get to know you and your business, so I can take care of business while you do business.

You can read more about me on my site by going to Redhead Business Management.

Hiring an administrative consultant for a set number of hours each month can simplify your process, no need to worry about desk space, payroll, additional benefits, or taxes that are all required with an employee (part-time or not) and if you're concerned about not having someone in the office to handle the tasks I can assure more often than not I'm quicker and more efficient that many in house employees simply because you're not being charge when I need to go to the bathroom or take a break to have lunch or even when I need to go to the doctor. The time retained for you is your time, 100% and focused.

I can also offer assistance with social media, marketing implementation and strategic planning.

If this is something maybe interested in please contact me by reply email and I will be happy to arrange a time to answer any questions you may have.

******

Feel free to use, tweak, delete or whatever for your own use. I generally tweak the opening paragraph to meet the information provided in the ad and then I include a link to a 3 page PDF info package that gives them idea of my background, additional skill set etc....

I don't do this as much as I use to when I was first starting out, but it did bring me some clients. I generally stick with positions that are listed as part-time and seem to have tasks involved that I would be interested in doing. If anyone would like to see my 3 pager info package let me know and I'd be happy to post it.

Wow, That's great! I usually try to keep mine pretty general, but I think spelling it out for them, may help educate them on exactly what working with a VA is like. I may use some of this.
Thanks
