In the current economy, many are in the same boat, whether they are planning to start a business or not. Bottom line, it pays the bills so you have to suck it up - you smile, go with the flow and spend every waking minute plotting and planning your escape, which keeps you sane enough not to turn into an axe murderer
I can sympathize. I'm the Legal Exec Assistant with 30 years of experience under my belt but since they let a lot go (including the in house lawyer and CFO) in January I'm the "Go-To Girl" for everything from legal work to fetching groceries. postage stamps and supplies. Vacation days/evenings/weekends I'm still logged into the office email, can work remotely and often have to late into the night - the President emailed me in a panic the other night because he'd lost the keys to his Mercedes ... every heard of the Automobile Association sweetie? duh!
On the other hand I come, go and do as I please and they pay me very well, for now - you never know when the axe will fall these days.
So hang in there, pick up the paycheck and work on your business. I know 40 hours a week + commute is 50 hours + shopping, cooking, cleaning, ironing, childcare, pet care, elder care, vehicle & home maintenance - whetever you have on your plate, it's hard to say the least.
