Default "Hire My Mom"?
I have a house to continue cleaning, but here I am - taking a break and browsing the internet (so productive! LOL).

Anyone have experience using HireMyMom.com or any similiar sites?

I am just poking around for a little bit and it got me wondering if any of you have been successful landing work stemming from this type of avenue?

Of course, word-of-mouth and target marketing are top ways to gain business as we all know, but I am just curious.

Okay. I need to get back to the cleaning....the Domestic Goddess, I am (not!).

Hire my mom is actually what got me started as a VA. I got my first VA job from there...she is a VA and I subbed under her. It is a really good site. It is one of the few that you don't have to bid low to get the project. Most of the proposals on there know that a good VA is worth more then $1-$8 per hour. I have had quite a few good projects from there.

That's great, Rebecca!

I would assume that the people on there who are looking for help are more familiar with the benefits and value of a VA. I have been familiar with HBWM and Lesley Spencer Pyle over the years. I have heard positive things about the site, but have wondered if it was successful for anyone.

Thank you so very much for sharing!

Hi Michelle,
I have not tried "hire my Mom", but it sounds good. I tried Elance already and also got 2 projects from there. But in Elance they do not want to pay what a VA is worth.

Sorry ladies but I have to say this.. the only thing about that site is that it is biased towards women... have they created a sub-site to educate people that there are now male VA's out there (me included). Im not having a rant or anything and hope I haven't upset anyone.

No offense taken. I hope you have taken the opportunity to join the 'guys' in the "Men of the VA Industry" group? Help spread the word!

I have indeed. I understand that there will always be more women VA's than men, and I suppose it is good being surrounded by women. lol.

No, seriously I have gained a lot of ideas from the ladies of this forum.
