What resume, Ms Jane? Sorry...this reminds me of a commercial from years ago: "Where's the Beef?" No disrespect intended.

Jane, why on earth do you need a resume? You're a business owner, not an employee...

Thank you, Tess! You remind me of my status. However in what way you make your potential clients believe you are qualified?

As I said, I am new to this business and I need any good advice/suggestion.

Jane

How about a great bio or company profile instead? You can use both to showcase your skills, expertise and services provided as well as more about your business.

As for making PC believe you are qualified, this is your sell. You need to find ways to funnel this information whether it be your website, a presentation or consultation. If they are looking for more information on you then you need to send them business information not a personal resume.

Great information given here Jane. Just think, would you ask an electrician or a plumber for their resume? But this is all in the learning process, you just have to change your mindset. I am still working on my own marketing materials and my marketing kit. There is a lot involved and you want to put together your own forms with your own branding message.

First I would concentrate on these marketing tools: brochure, business card, sales letter. Put up a Website, that is important and can be used as an online business card. It doesn't have to be fancy, you can even put up a Weebly Website which is free.

After you sign up your first client you will need more marketing tools such as a: Welcome letter, client contract, NDA. Your terms and rate information should be included. Also I have a template that I use which consists of questions I have for PCs (before the first phone consultation). I also have FAQ that I printed out from my own site for that same consultation. It will take you some time to know what you want to use and to put these forms together. You can buy them from different sites on the Web too.

Did you check the VAF document library? There are helpful forms there and they are free. I would also suggest researching the forum topics, try using the "search box" and you will come up with a ton of information, it will take some time, there is a lot here. But that's what I did when I first started out.

I had a fabulous 'professional profile' done for me by Lisa Forbes. The link to her VA offer is here. I use this in place of a resume to 'tweak' potential client's interest in me.

Thank you guys for your good suggestions, especially Drozak and Jo-Carole. I think I need to rethink about my VA and restart again!

Lily,

Thank you for suggesting the professional profile, I think that is a great idea. The price has changed to $40.00 for VAF members, but that is still an awesome deal.
