Question Have you used Craigslist.org?
I have used Craigslist.org very effectively since the beginning of my practice. Has anyone else used this site for marketing or networking purposes? How has it worked for you? Any tips you'd like to share?

Brianna

Hang in there Lily!! Your ideal clients are out there.

Brianna, I found my first client on Craigslist - her ad for a VA was posted in Bangalore, which is where I was living at the time..and she's still with me!

I didn't have any actual plan to be a virtual assistant; I got the client first and the rest followed suit.

I think it's a great place to start but would say that *really* unique and inspiring replies are so important as the potential client receives hundreds of responses. It's not hard to stand out among the multitudes of replies though as most people just write a one or two line email and often don't take into account any special information request in the original ad. Making it a bit more personal, giving the client a reason to *like* you right off the bat makes a huge difference.

Very cool, Tess! I've found small projects here and there, mostly in the beginning of my practice. I've used Craigslist primarily for getting the word out about our industry and plugging the training program I used to teach. We got several students that way!

I was just thinking about revisiting my old campaigns and was curious what experiences others have had.

Thanks!!

Brianna

I have found a couple of my clients there.. And those clients are still with me today.. Making your email stand out is soo important.. Thats what they are looking for, sometimes more than the words in the email. Make it stand out!! And you will get responses for sure!!

I was thinking of adding "why hire a mere mortal when you have access to a Goddess?" as the last line on my emails. Think it's too arrogant?

Lily, that's perfect and exactly the kind of thing I'm always bugging everyone about. It's got a ton of personality.
Add it to your email signatures, add it to your site, use it in your marketing...I think that is an excellent and fitting tagline - go with it!!

Have not tried it yet, but I do check the ads from time to time to see what is out there.

Hi Everyone -

I've responded to ads on Craigslist. I was wonder if you stay within your home arena or do you go to other states/countires to answer the posts?
