Wow, what an excellent list of suggestions. As another newbie, these will really help me get up and running.

I'm also hearing good things about using Twitter as a social networking tool. I'm yet to set up as a twitter user but who knows? May be worth a try.

I am also in the process of putting together a PowerPoint Presentation about Virtual Assisting, and my business, and plan to e-mail it to various companies that are in my city, and see if I can get any response back. Do you have any suggestions about how to market a PowerPoint through email?

Creating a PowerPoint presentation and emailing to clients is a simple process. You can create the PowerPoint presentation and then just save it as a PDF document. Then email the PDF document along in your email.
