This is a great list. I never thought about the return labels. Thanks.

Thank you for this list, Vanessa. Marketing is what I consider to be my biggest challenge, even though I realize it is the absolute key to success in this business. I really have to get over the "selling myself" mentality, or at least learn to adjust to it being a way of life. This venture (being a professional VA) is a huge adjustment all the way around, but I'm certain I want it so I'll do whatever it takes to make it.

Vanessa;

Thank you so much for the list -- I have had some of these on a list in my head. Now they are a checklist (tailored to my niche) on my desk.

I will be checking them off as I begin using them -- should keep me busy for awhile.

Everyone here is so helpful.

These are such great tips. I am printing off the list right now and getting out of here to get on the road.

I have done quite a few on the list but for the more creative ones, I am heading down to Staples right now. Talking about donating to charity, this week I went through my closet and have a bag full of items, so you know what I am about to do? Thank you so much.

Starbucks is another great place to leave cards/brochures. Ours have bulletin boards, but that's where I meet clients - and a lot of home based people use it as a meeting place.

There's at least 10 of them in a five mile radius from here. I haven't been consistent, but that's my new Monday/Wednesday routine is just go to all of them close by and leave brochures.

Thank you so much. I will check on the Starbucks in my area. FYI - I tried Staples, Office Max and Kinkos over the weekend and I was told that they no longer allow business cards or promotional info to be left there.

I would also add to the list that coffee houses (others than just starbucks, though being in seattle we have starbucks literally in every neighborhood) and cyber cafes are good places to leave marketing material. I was also wondering about colleges and universities bulletin boards.

And this might be crazy, but what about putting your business card or business postcard on the end of a balloon's ribbon and handing them out at local town fairs/festivals. Up here in the Pacific Northwest there are a lot of little festivals and "town days" which many locals attend. Or check with local Pampered Chef and Tupperware dealers who may have booths in those fairs/festivals and see if you can put some of your materials in their booth attached to little suckers or lollipops.

Just a few brainstorm ideas,
~Annette

I just left some in the gas station by my home!! I always see contractors trucks and so on there, so why not!!! Since I am looking for smaller businesses to do bookkeeping for I have also left my postcards at the local hardware store. I know I have alot more to leave them at but thats what I have done so far!!

These are great ideas, does anyone have a suggestion of a business that does good car decals that are not costly?
