Awesome ideas! I wouldn't have even thought of a few of these. Thank you so much for sharing them. As a new VA, I'm so grateful to all the help I can find. If I come up with anything different that works for me, I'll definitely add to the list here. Thanks again, ~Annette

You can also leave stacks of cards and/or brochures when you go to get your hair and nails done. And even at some eating facilities. Here in VA, I have left a stack of cards in these places.

I got my first client by enrolling for a course that is related to my market niche. My client company is growing, I am gaining experience, we are all happy.

This is a great list! If you don't mind, I have a couple additions that have worked for me...

Leave a business card on local bulletin boards at the grocery store, local hotels, laundrymats, etc. Small business owners visit these as well as out of town visitors who might need services while they are in town.

Also, I ask local restaurants to allow me to leave a little stack of business cards by the cash register. Some will allow this and others won't, so be sure to ask first!

This is a great list! I hadn't thought of some of these, so I appreciate the ideas.

One suggestion I have is to put your business card in any of the fishbowls some business have out. They use it to draw a card for some prize, but if you put your card in and turn it so it can be read from outside, others will see it!

Good luck to everyone!

Great ideas....appreciate all of the advise, as this is the hardest part, I think - finding clients.

Yeah! I am so glad that people are finding use of this list. As mentioned, what works for some might not work for all.

Keep in mind, word of mouth goes ALONG way. This can sometimes be the *best* form of marketing ever!

Wow, Thank you so much. I am in the process of trying different ways of getting my name out there. No clients as of yet, but am always looking for ideas to get them. Have you done a post card mailing befopre? If so, any results from it? That is what I will be doing this week, sending out post cards to businesses in my area. I was told that it takes 5 times for someone to look at this and actually see it!! I'm hoping thats not the case!! Thank you very much for all your great ideas.

This is a really great list for both old and new virtual assistants. It's a great starting point for newbies and for the more seasoned VAs it takes you back to the basics. Many of us are constantly trying to reinvent the wheel when it's not always necessary. Don't get me wrong new ideas are always a plus, but I feel that they should be incorporated with what's been tried and tested. Good luck fellow VAs.
