Default Does Anyone Use Guru?
I've been using Guru for a few years now and just curious if anyone else does?

Hi Tammy:

I started using Guru.com in the beginning of my business to get leads, market myself out there, and be on a variety of "short lists" as buyers call it. I have gotten a handful of projects from the freelance website, but do not pay for the quarterly fees Guru.com charges.

I think Guru.com is a good tool to use to get yourself in the door, but don't underbid yourself and/or your rates in order to obtain work. Good luck!

I have not used GURU yet, but did sign up. I have tried Elance, but as stated many times before by others, the competition is just crazy. I just was rejected yet again with a bid that was too high. I really sacrificed that last one and still.....can't compete with the 2 or 3 dollars an hour!

Oh well!

Right now I have a job with Guru which I can make $40 an hour at. It's writing articles and I can do them quickly. Guru is a great place to get work and honestly the least I've made is $12 an hour and it's always more than that because I work fast.

Guru is a step above all the rest and no one on there usually gets paid less than $8 an hour. The key is persistance, it literally took me months to get my first job but after that i can always get work. I'm a huge fan of Guru, they are the best at customer service as well.

Guru is very saturated. However, there is freelance.com, scriptlance.com, forums.digitalpoint.com, gofreelance.com and ifreelance.com. All allow you to bid. But its very competitive.

Check them out.

I have tried Elance and can't compete with the VERY low bids. I found it very disappointing.

That is a misconception so many people buy into. Guru is loaded with good paying jobs. There is competition but that is everywhere. I have found some great jobs on Guru and that is incredible in this economy.

Does anyone pay to become a Guru vendor or are you finding success just going with the free basic membership?

Yes, you need to pay, it's only 30 a quarter for admin category. I have gotten tons of jobs off there and it is a great site. The basic is so limited, I feel it is useless.

Also, if you can write, just simple writing you will have a much better chance getting jobs there. My admin has slowed down due to economy but I've been making do with writing.

But definitely do the paying part, the other is useless.
