Just wanted to give an update: I tried Craigslist and within 4 days had a potential client. They anticipate starting within the next couple months. So far, so good.

Congrats!!

I do agree, CL can be full of scams, but it's a great place to look for clients as well!

I am very happy for you.

They are starting an internet-based company and will require several different services to get started and to continue. So (fingers crossed) they will be a long-term client.

Kathy, I'm so sorry...Duhhhh. I had a brain freeze I guess. It finally hit me that you were saying your potential client is anticipating starting to work with you in a couple of months. Please forgive me. And, I hope they turn out to be a great long term client.

Congratulations. I have tried CL in the past when I was with Ameriplan but never had much success. Thanks to hearing about your success, I'll try again

Craigslist is great. I got my first client here from an ad posted there.

I have never checked out Craigs List but since I am getting my business started, I guess I will check it out. Thanks for the tip.

I was checking out CL this morning to see what kind of ads VA's put out there and how others are doing it. There seems to be a variety of ads, although I checked several different cities (we're virtual, so I figure we should be able to advertise in any city) and found some of the same ads. Looked like larger VA businesses. Glad to hear at least a few of you have been successful there. Keeps me motivated!
