Default Cover Letter
Hope I'm posting this in the right place.

Does anyone have a cover letter that they use and can share for an example to send to companies that have ads in the newspaper.

I've been looking into the local classifieds and there are a number of jobs that I can "apply" for but I'm not sure of how to address the company.

After doing a google search, I found this in another part of the forum

I noticed your posting on craigslist seeking an marketing assistant to help with the marketing of your website. Have you thought of joining forces with a Virtual Assistant/Online Business Manager?

I am a professional Online Business Manager and work with key clients by taking care of business so you can do business. Similar to a bookkeeper who handles the processes for cash flow I can manage the administrative tasks for you. I am an online business manager and my role as business manager boils down to one simple thing, I free up your time so that you can focus your time and energy on things that only YOU can do in your business. I jump in and help you manage all aspects of your business. I get to know you and your business, so I can take care of business while you do business.

You can read more about me on my site by going to Redhead Business Management.

Hiring an administrative consultant for a set number of hours each month can simplify your process, no need to worry about desk space, payroll, additional benefits, or taxes that are all required with an employee (part-time or not) and if you're concerned about not having someone in the office to handle the tasks I can assure more often than not I'm quicker and more efficient that many in house employees simply because you're not being charge when I need to go to the bathroom or take a break to have lunch or even when I need to go to the doctor. The time retained for you is your time, 100% and focused.

I can also offer assistance with social media, marketing implementation and strategic planning.

If this is something maybe interested in please contact me by reply email and I will be happy to arrange a time to answer any questions you may have.

Great example of a cover letter (I am sure the redhead will appreciate the complement of using her letter).

I tailor it to the specifics of the company but often say something like:
I am contacting you in response to your _____ posting on Craigslist for the position of _____.

I noted your post did not specify if you wanted part-time or full-time assistance. I live in Peoria, Illinois. Have you ever considered utilizing the services of a Virtual Associate? This would be a very cost effective means of obtaining quality services. You pay for the services you receive -- rather than paying a wage and overhead even when no services are being performed.
v You reduce basic staffing costs such as the need to purchase desks and computers or pay for sick and vacation time.
v Your business also saves money by paying virtual assistants for the time they actually work, rather than a weekly salary

If given the opportunity, I know I would be a definite asset to your Company. I have excellent skills and references. To learn a little more please go to my website: www.debsprofessionalservices.c om

Please Reply Email WITH History to set up a time when we can explore how I would best be able to meet the needs of your company.

_________

Now - maybe you can combine the best of the redhead, mine and your own ===
Good luck!

This is a great letter.

For a while now, I've been thinking that Craigslist and newspaper classifieds would make great job leads. I just wasn't sure how to approach it.

Thanks for giving me a place to start.

Thnak you for sharing this, I will be using both formats as a starting point to custimize my own letter to send out. I never thought of scoping out the employment/career ads until just the other day, then I thought, why the heck not??

I would like to carefully craft one of these to send out to energy companies looking for Land Administrators, as that is where my passion truly lies.

Thank you.

Update: I revamped this letter to work for me and just used it to 'apply' for a 'position'/ market what I can do for this firm which is sort of one of my niche markets! I am excited to see what they come back with!

I am going to further re-vamp this letter and use it to send out 50 letters with my business cards next week to smalelr oil & gas companies! to see if I can round up some bsuiness from that niche market.

Thank you!

Have any of you actually had success finding clients this way? I have a hard time imagining that hiring personnel will be swayed without personal contact.

Hi, I think the best ting to do is search a bit about the background & the need requirement of the company that you wish to apply. Then customized your cover letter
