Farah,
A 'call to action' is a marketing method which creates interest for the user and hopefully creates a desire for the user to take specific action. Typically, this practice is implemented when a user visits a website for the first time.
For example, when someone lands on a website or a blog, a good way to capture their interest is to offer a newsletter or a tips page. The user inputs a name and email and receives something of value for giving this information to the website owner. The offer of a tip sheet
called the user to act.
This is a proven marketing tool (to create a call to action) because both parties receive something of value for participating. The website owner receives email addresses and names, [and the possibility that the visitor might turn in to a customer] and the website/blog visitor receives whatever the website owner is offering such as a tip sheet or a free download.
Jules is looking for examples of 'call to action' options.
The most common one is to have a sign up box for a newsletter. I suggested others in my post that would also entice folks.
If you look right here on VAF...to your right, in the ad column, the site owner has set up 'call to action' options such as 'read our interview with Craig Cannings' or 'client spot, sign up free'.
Please feel free to PM me if you have additional questions.
Regards,
Janine
