Default Is anyone registered with the Virtual Vocations website?
Hello Everyone - I ran across this website called Virtual Vocationshttp://www.virtualvocations.com; they are a job search site specifically offering services for applying to telecommute positions (needless to say there are costs involved). Is anyone a current subscriber of this site and do you find it of any value? Any feedback would be appreciated; I have yet to register since my first reaction is to be skeptical about these sites.

Thank you.

I had started to register with them just to see what it was all about, but during the process they wanted to charge a fee or something, I can't remember now, so I quit the process half way through. They started spamming me like crazy even though I hadn't completed the registration process. It's slowed down but I still get crap from them now and then.

I don't think they have their own listing, the just provide listings from other websites like Odesk or Elance.

I would stay away from them.

Rebecka,

Thanks for that information; that helps me make up my mind NOT to join. I'm so glad I asked. Have a good one!

Default Anyone supplement what they do with Virtual Vocations
I am comtemplating signing up for this service...to assist me in getting started. It appears to be a "careerbuilder type" site, that matches companies with people who want to work from home. It is 1099...but there is a subscription fee for being able to apply for these types of jobs. The fee is either 6.99 per week, 15.99 per month and $49.99 per six months...

Has anyone done this...and if so...what was your experience?

I would need to find out more information about how they get the companies/businesses that they work with. Are you still going to need to "sell" your services once they give you leads.. I guess the correct terminology is - are they qualified leads? How much traffic to their website daily/weekly/monthly.

I had a free account for a while. Nothing came of it. Kind of like Elance, I find many want to hire you for $5-$10/hour. I still think there are more effective, less costly ways to get work.

Just as Sue mentioned, this sounds like a site similar to Elance. To me, it seems that Elance has turned into a haven for people to exploit cheap labor. Sometimes, in the pursuit of cost-effective labor, people forget about quality. Generally speaking, you get what you pay for!

Hi, I agree be careful that they aren't just going to use your services. I had tried to go this direction but the only thing that I was offered was a data entry for $8 an hour. Not exactly what I was looking for. I have found that networking is very helpful.

Thanks for putting this out there, guys. I had come across it and not signed up, either, but it's always nice to hear you made the right decision.
Good luck otherwise!

I've seen some of the positions on their site also listed on my local Craigslist. I've even seen them post the non-legit ones so I don't think they research them first.
