Default 7 Ways to Win More Jobs on Elance
I just read this article in the monthly newsletter that I get from Elance and thought that I would share it with you.

I think that this tips could apply to not just to Elance but applying to RFP's in general.

Heather, Thank you. I'm just starting my VA business and was thinking about Elance and taking the time to register there.
Have you found many viable jobs there?

Thanks for any info you can share with a "newbee."

I too have been wondering about anyones experience with Elance. It seems the hourly rates are really low $5.00/hr? Or maybe I am reading it incorrectly

Thanks for sharing. Great information! You're right, this can not only apply for elance, but other places as well.

As for my experience with elance, I will say the rates are somewhat low. It's a site you have to be very choosy on. I just landed a project on there where the rate that wanted to be paid was $5/6 - but actually compromised on a bit higher rate. I am beginning to like elance a bit more then guru though. With elance, the free users get more "benefits" with their account, which I feel is very beneficial for the "newbies" just starting out. Don't get me wrong -- I still like my guru too. : )

I have not had any luck with any of these type of sites.
They all seem to want to pay next to nothing. And I'm certainly worth more than that!!!
If have better luck with RFP's on networking sites.

As someone pretty new to the VA world, I think I will sign up just to get my feet wet. If someone pays me $5 per hour to learn a few ropes, I am okay with that. Its more mental for me than the pay check. Also, I think Ill look at guru as well. At this point, it cant hurt.

I have tried to get a few projects at elance, but still haven't got anything... There are a lot of the tests I still need to take though. It does seem that the folks with the higher rating & lowest bids get the project.

I can do the low bid, but I still have no rating. A little competitive to get started in...

I haven't heard of too many VAs getting work from these sites. I think it's just a good starting point if you're a newbie and need some experience.
