I have read some of the post concerning business license. I checked with my city website and I will need a business license. But when do you need it? Meaning I feel I am open for business but until I have that first client signed I'm not really doing business. So when do I need the actual license?
I know you are not legal advisors, this is just a general question on your thoughts.
You probably need to get your license now. Just like a business can't open its doors to let in its first customer until it has a license. It's usually not very expensive and better to be safe than sorry.
Jessica, I agree with Sue. I would go ahead and get it now just to be on the safe side. That way it will keep you on the right side of the law in case a problem were to arise after you have a truckload of clients.

Okay ladies and gent. I have read the posts and quite frankly and have myself confused. So I need to get a business license with the city that I live in as well as decide whether to go LLC, sole proprietor or can I just do a DBA? I know this sounds very silly, but I just need some advice.
