Hello all,

I'm in the process of completing my information packet to send to potential clients. Within the packet, I wanted to include a listing of my resources called "tools of the trade", giving them a snapshot of the programs I use and the purpose of each. For example, I use Google Docs for uploading files and sharing. So I would showcase the Google logo and to the right would provide a blurb about the program to give them a basic understanding. Would that legal to do? I'm trying to give a creative appearance as apposed to just typing "Google". I'm not showcasing this on my website, just mailing it. Would do you all think?

How many packets are you sending out? Seems like if it's less than 100 it wouldn't be any big deal. But if it's a lot more than that, you'll probably do well to research rights on the logos. Others here may be more knowledgeable, though ....

I plan to send packets out in spirts on a weekly basis. So one mailing might have 10-15 or so. Definitely not more than that though.

I have found that most companies will give you permission to link their sites. Usually you can find this info on their FAQ and sometimes they even give you a hyperlink code to input on your web page to make it easier.

That's what I was wondering - what permission/s might be required.

Because software is constantly changing, I'm not sure that I would advertise what specific software I use in case I found something that works better/cheaper, etc. I would tend to be more generic "I use a safe, user-friendly file uploading/sharing program, an on-line fax service", etc. This would also negate potential legal issues.

Check the company info for the logos you want to use. Most will allow you to use in support of their software/hardware. Check though because some you need permission to link or use and they will send you or link you to the logo to use.
