Question Showing Sub-Contractors On About Page
I am a DBA or sole proprietorship whichever you wish to call it - that's what I am set up as.

I do sub-contract, or rather I WILL be sub-contracting some services to my friend in Texas and my husband. Both will add a great addition to my business and I refer to us as a team.

They are not employees and as it stands until my business grows larger and is an LLC they probably never will be, however, I do sub-contract to them and feel their face and speciality should be listed on my About Page under "Our Team" section ... I wonder if it's legal to show my sub-contractors under the team if I am a DBA and if it's okay do I need to use certain wording?

Like a * with they are sub-contractors or independent contrators and are not an employee of BEBS??

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide, btw I am in New Hampshire.

Brandy

That is a good question and I can't wait to hear the answer on it. Thanks for bringing it up.

Will you be putting their contact details on your site too? If so, then personally I wouldn't, unless you want clients contacting them direct instead of you. But it kind of depends on how you feel your business is set up. If you're sub-contracting and billing the client direct then really the client only needs to know about you. Whatever happens in the background to get the work done is up to you but ultimately you're responsible for the end product. And you may change your sub-contractors over time - you really want to keep the client relationships strictly with you.

I'm set up quite differently and do have my team showing on my website.

Perhaps you need to think about the end result, or where you'd like to be in 2 years, 5 years time and then think about what impact having them on your website might have on that end result?

I am planning on my end result being a team of us providing services, and have a Team Lead or Project Manager, however, at this time, not going to happen.

One of my sub-contractors wishes to bring business my way, but I wish to be the ONLY person discussion rates and taking payments, this is partially why my question came up. I thought about telling her that I appreciate her friendship and wanting to help me grow my business, however, think she should work with those sent to her directly and she can certainly use me as a reference.

I wanted only their picture with what they offer beside them. Above that I would have my picture with who I am, as owner, and what I provide for services . Not all services will be sub-contracted out at this time, I am still new, however, one day they may be.

I would not place their contact details on my site only their face shot and specialty.

What do you think? I just feel like legally being a DBA not sure if it's "okay"?

Thanks,
Brandy

Laws are very different from country to country, Brandy, so probably best you speak to those who know your business intimately, i.e. your Accountant or Solicitor, to get that advice. I don't know what a DBA is I'm sorry. But I do know you need always to be thinking of the future when planning today as it can have an effect on where things end up.
