Registered Agent???
Hello everyone,

I'm interested in starting an LLC in Delaware or Colorado because I noticed they are the most flexible and affordable states and filing in my state (NY) is too expensive. However I was wondering if you start the LLC on your own in another state doesn't the registered agent have to be located in that state? If any of you have started an LLC on your own in another state how did you go about finding a registered agent.

Yes, the registered agent has to be in the State in which you are filing. There are service providers that provide registered agent services, also, most attorneys provide the service as well.

You must have a Registered Agent in the State in which you incorporate. Should you choose to incorporate your business in the State of Delaware, here is a link to the Delaware SOS where a great number of Registered Agents are listed:

Shop around, because the fees can range anywhere from $50 to $250 for Registered Agent services.

Thank You Thank You! This part had me a little confused. I know Legal Zoom offers Registered Agent service as well. Do any of you have experience using the Registered Agent service through them?
