Default Meeting with lawyer
I have a meeting with a business lawyer (who is also a CPA) for an initial consultation this week. Any suggestions as to what I should ask him or discuss with him? I will be asking him about business structure and contract/subcontract forms, taxes, and of course the cost of his services. Since this consultation is free, I want to use every minute productively.

Just a few subjects you may want to ask about:
1: What business licenses needed
2: getting an EIN number (btw, you can do this yourself for free at the IRS web site)
3: Is a Sales Tax number needed (also free at your states' web site)
4: What kind of insurance do you need
Just a few things I thought of when I read your post. You may already have these on your list. Good luck and let us know how the appointment goes!

I hope you are able to share some of the results from the meeting. I am interested in hearing about the suggestions for Insurance and Business Organization.

Thanks for the replies! I will share what I learn. I went through the initial stages of starting a business, many years ago. I had a mentor, who "held my hand" through the entire process. I met with an attorney and a CPA at that time, and learned about creating a business plan, EIN, quarterly taxes, licenses, registration of my business name, etc. This time, I will be able to ask other questions. I'm mainly interested in legal protection, i.e., documents/clauses that are "must haves."

Since the consultation is free, I'm wondering how much information he will provide; but, I'm going to remain optimistic.
