Default Did you register your LLC in your State? and is VA concidered web only?
Hello everyone,

I came across that it's a better option to register an LLC on Wyoming, Delaware and Nevada due to their friendly business regulations.
I live in California and for an LLC it's $800 a year!!

I also found that depending on the type of business people have to Re-register their LLC in the state in which they are doing "Business" and therefore they end up paying the same fees (In my case it would be $800 a year), this is only true if doing business in California (having an office, etc) so registering somewhere else would not be helpful.

But in VA well... what are we concidered, actual businesses or mere Web based? I know that I would like to find my clients anywhere and I would probably promote physically in my city (network, etc)....
We are after all "Virtual" ....

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!!

My husband and I just got our taxes done and I asked her how much of a difference it would be for us when I became LLC. She told me to forget becoming LLC because for $20 more I can become a S Corp which protects me more. She said that the LLC really does not protect you much more than not being LLC. Her view on it is that it is another way for the state to get $150 plus the $35 (Minnesota) for filing for the assumed name again.

I believe that if you live in California you will have to pay a fee to register your business in California, even if you are a registered LLC elsewhere. Even though you work 'virtually', you are still considered to be a California business. You may wish to consult with someone at SCORE regarding this issue to make sure you are completely legitimate.
