Default Choosing a Business Name
Hi Everyone!

I want to register a business name, but am not sure how to check if it is not already taken. I believe it is on a state to state basis. The name I want 2envison is being used by a company in Florida and they also have the web domain 2envision.com. Is it possible that I can still use it?

Yes, if it is available in your state and you register it, you can use it. It is on a state by state basis. Most states have the ability to check name availability and register online. Usually, with the Secretary of State or Comptroller's office.

Just a quick question, I might not be understanding you completely so please forgive me if I'm a little confused...but are you wanting to use a business name that is already taken in another state and online? If so, I'd suggest that you pick a different name completely. Also, I'd ask an attorney if you can use the name and also check to see if they have it copyrighted. I'd definetly find all this out before spending money.

I know how difficult it can be to pick a business name, but its so worth investigating in the end

Hi marketingva:

Yes I want to use a name that is registered in another state and the domain is taken online. Thank you for your advice, it would perhaps be all together easier to have something completely unique.
