Default Business Name Reservation
In South Carolina there's the option of reserving your business name for $25 or you can just register your business.

I'm not ready to register just yet (soon, hopefully soon!!) so do you think I should just reserve it? I ask because I've already purchased the domain names for it and I'm just a tincy-wincy bit paranoid that I'll lose the name and then be stuck with the domain!

Or am I just being really paranoid and shouldn't worry so much about it?

Hello Jonna,

I am still new to this business thing as well, however I started a online gift business several years ago that had to be placed on hold until my life freed up some (no time to work with it at all)... Anyway I only say this because I loved the business name I picked so I registered for the name with the IRS and my state even before I has my website. This way I could start confirming my business and owning it. I don't know if this is the path you should take or not, however thought I would share my story.

Good Luck in your decision!
Faye

P.S. As it turns out now, I will be growing my VA business and offering a gift service to bring back my older business. I love the way things work out.

I went ahead and reserved it, because for $25 it eased my mind of worrying if I was going to lose the name! Haha! I think I wouldn't have been so worried if I didn't already purchase the domain names as well.

Hi Jonna, glad to hear you did this! I wanted to say that if you're committed to your business goals then it makes perfect sense to reserve or register your business name [even if it feels 'early' to do so]

Congratulations! You're one step closer
