Any feedback regarding PrePaid Legal? - Virtual Assistant Forums

There have been a few times in recent history I wished I had someone in the legal profession to go to for counsel, or advice/info on certain matters. I've researched local options, and while this appeals to me it is going to be an investment to be sure. With that in mind, I have also been researching PrePaid Legal as an option and wanted to find out if anyone here has any personal experience with them - good, bad or otherwise?

Hi Tess, I have been with Prepaid Legal (PPL) now about 4 years. I was introduced to a PPL rep and I purchased my policy through her. I believe each state has different rate packages. There are business plans and home plans. They bill me automatically each month on my credit card and the law firm that I call is located in Cherry Hill, NJ about an hour from me. It works like this: I call a toll free number and leave a message about what I am calling about with a receptionist who is pleasant and professional. Someone then is supposed to call me back that day or the next day. They usually call me back the same day. You never know who will be calling you back but it will be an attorney in the firm. I never had a problem with any of them. Before I joined PPL I researched legal costs in my state. I called 2 attorneys and asked the price for their hourly rate. One quote was $300/hour and the other a little less than that. My own attorney, at that time, who was my real estate attorney was high even with an AARP discount. I haven't called PPL in a while now, but I like knowing I can call at any time. I always carry the number in my wallet, you never know when you will need a lawyer either...

So, I would recommend them highly to anyone. Even if you have a problem you can call the 800 # and they will help you.

But are you saying that I have to get into their system through an existing rep?

Anyone else have anything to add? I'm more and more interested in how this works.

Tess, that is how it worked for me. But you can always Google it for a local rep by you. I would be happy to call and check out who you need to contact if you want also.

That's so sweet of you

When I have a bit of time I'll browse the main website and see who's nearby and maybe give them a ring. We're thinking of moving soon-ish so I'm wondering if I should wait [?] although it's probably something I can move with us....

Are you moving out of state? If then I would probably wait since it goes by the state you live in.

I think this is a good investment, Tess, I haven't used them for a long time, but I continue to pay because I know one call will be worth what I pay for a year, at least....

...always keep their number with me in my bag, you never know when you will need their help...
