Last year I created an LLC here in PA. So that needs to be renewed annually? This legalese stuff totally befuddles me. Just like the whole DBA and ficticious name thing. I've been snooping around the PA DOS website looking for answers, and while I'm finding information, I have no idea if I'm actually looking at the correct info for me.

I think I found the form I need - so I need to pay an annual fee of $460 for having an LLC?! Dang. I need to get me a job at Mickey D's just to afford to have an LLC that isn't making any money yet. Don't even get me started on health insurance.....

Can anyone help me out here? Anyone doing business in PA? I'm gonna have to do some kick butt business just to break even by the end of the year. No wonder they say you starve the first three years of a new business - it all goes for these cruddy fees!

As much research as I did before I started this LLC, it sure wasn't enough!

Double check w/your secty of state's office - usually you just need to file an annual return. In Colorado, that's $10...

I already sent them an email, so I should get an answer next week. I just get so frustrated at all this stuff that I don't know and didn't know I needed to know ( ) even tho I spent months researching, and it makes me irritated and fed up. How on earth can anyone really afford to start a business? Sheesh.

Hopefully you are right (you always have been!), and that I can put away the crankypants and plunge further into the Well o' Knowledge and get myself squared away, meltdown-free.

You do have to file an annual return and the fee is equal to the number of partners, as of December 31st, multiplied times $420. Nonpayment of the annual fee will create a lien on the assets of the company.

You can find the DOS number on their website. You may want to call them and have them explain everything you need to do annually as a LLC. I have called them on several occasions in regards to changing the structure and name of a non-profit I do work for, the folks there will take the time to walk you through everything and get you the information that you need.
