When deciding on creating your website do you consider those who can not see?
I have had so many compliments from those who are visually impaired for my grammar, word usage and descriptions.
When working on your site make sure you are using descriptions whether it be in your HTML/CSS code or in the content text.
Try downloading free reader software to see how those who can't see, see your site.
Those who can not see are coaches, writers, doctors, lawyers, real estate agents and so much more.
They need your services just like anyone else and will more than likely become lifetime clients verses intermediate clients.
Sometimes I think we don't see those who can not see. We forget to consider them as potential clients and customers.
There are a few things to keep in mind when you are working with the visually impaired. For instance, when you are sending an email, you may want to put LOL (laugh out loud). But, instead you should put (sheepish grin) or (laughing) or (smile).
When speaking with one another via the internet it is so easy to forget that who we are talking to could be handicap in some way. Most will not tell you and you will more than likely be asked questions that you are not use to. For instance, Can you describe your website to me? You will want to describe it in as much detail as possible. Such as color, layout - boxes on the left are links to --- etc.
In the end I just wanted to help those understand that not everyone will be like you. Working with the handicap can be so rewarding and enlightening.
Sincerely,
Andrea
