I talk to everybody, everywhere, all the time. I have 2 clients right now and I am still working on more.

One is a lady I work with, she needed help online, the other is a former colleague that had to let her office manager go. I do all of her class announcements, banners, news, constant contact emails, etc.

I am currently talking with an author/speaker who possibly needs help.. yay

Wow...thanks everyone! I appreciate the responses! I have some marketing work to do. Yesterday, I completed my business brochure along with my business cards. Now I just need to find a great printer with reasonable rates. Thanks again for the advice and comments!

I want to get my postcards out, but just do not have the money for my stamps. However, I have gained three clients in the past three months of being in business by attending two local free networking groups. I also attend free networking events and visit other networking groups (BNI, Biz to Biz, and others in MN) I have visited expos and I tell everyone what I do. I always have my business cards on hand as well.

I have not gotten any response from my online networking or website as of yet. But I just believe that it will take a little time (I have only been in business for three months).

If you take your post cards to the post office you can get a special rate for mailing them in bulk. Check your local post office for the bulk rate mailing or visit http://www.usps.com

Good Luck
Andrea

Thanks, Erika! Good to know. I'm on the same path and have opened my doors for business recently, too. It hasn't been quite one month but I now have more avenues to travel in terms of marketing myself.

Thanks for the words of wisdom! Much appreciated!

I may sound like a broken record but it does work. Word of mouth, referrals and people I knew have been where I received most of my clients. Sometimes it is just a project and sometimes a longer relationship but keep doing all the things we talk about and then think some up yourself and do those too. It always seems to me just when I am ready to give up, that's when things start to happen.

Even when you get busy you still need to continue your marketing, always preparing for the next client, but it doesn't feel like work because I love being a VA.
