Default Token of appreciation?
Good afternoon everyone!
As things keep popping up in my head I turn to VAF to pose my questions to get the opinions of all of you
I was just wondering, if you were to receive a call from a PC who was referred to you by someone else, do you give the person/client who referred you something as a token of appreication?? Maybe a discount on their next invoice or something?
I thought of this because when I was pregnant with my daughter I hired a doula to help me with the labour and pregnancy. I ended up referring her to one of my best friends who just had her baby and the doula sent us a gift card as a "thank you" for the referral.

Let me know your opinions

It's a great idea to give some sort of referral gift or a discount on the next invoice; because if your clients feel that you really appreciate them they will continue to refer you clients.

I give a 25% discount off their next invoice as a thank you.

I agree, I think it's a great idea that not only shows appreciation for the referral but is an incentive to continue to send clients your way.

In my own practice I send 10% of a new client's first invoice to the referring client as a thank you. If the referring client has an active invoice I will apply it to their balance. If not, or if the referral comes from a fellow VA or someone else I send them a PayPal for the amount with a 'thank you'.

I used to send a hand written thank you card as well but have not been as good about that lately - it makes a nice impression and is something I should start doing again....

I totally agree! As someone who received a "thank you" for a referral it does make you feel good and it does give you more motivation to send more clients their way. So I think it's a great business practice and I am definitely going to do it if and when the time comes. Thank you all for your thoughts!

It's always nice to show your appreciation - it's good manners and can encourage repeat business and referrals. Just remember it's the thought that counts!
