Default Thanksgiving cards to clients?
I read an idea a while back about sending cards to your clients at times that maybe not everyone else in the world was doing the same thing, and one of the suggestions was at Thanksgiving. Do they make "business" Thanksgiving cards, or are special ones even necessary?

Have any of you ever done this? What do you guys think?

I do nurture programs for my clients and I always suggest sending out a card during Thanksgiving. If their clients/prospects/ideal clients live in the US it is a great idea.

I love the idea of expressing gratitude and love of family and since this is a national holiday it doesn't have the potential minefield of religious holidays.

I like to do one of two methods: 1) a short poem (you can Google them) about gratitude or 2)a personal note like "During this time of gratitude and appreciate, I feel lucky to have a wonderful family, a prosperous business, and amazing clients like you. May you and your family enjoy the bounty and love of the season.

Pam, I sent Thanksgiving Cards to my clients for years, when I was in sales. They were really appreciated. As you mentioned, they arrive before the onslaught of other holiday cards. The company I used was Kogle cards. You can find them on a google search. They have a large selection and you can pick one that could also be sent to Vendors, etc.

I too send Thanksgiving cards for my US clients and the others I send a thanks for spending another year with me. I get good response from this because they get my message before the mirad of others and I also give them a discount on their December services as a thank you gift.

This year it will be 20.11% of any services and 20.12% on any referral business signed during December and January. This seems to work well for me as they can either save a little money or add a few tasks that they have been putting on the back burner.

I, too, send Thanksgiving cards instead of Christmas or generic 'holiday' cards but - I create my own in Adobe Indesign. I have seem business style ones for sale at local office supply stores so you might want to check there.

A business that I worked for previously did Client Anniversary cards that were quite well received. It was also a good opportunity to offer a special deal.

Alisa, you could do an e-card for Christmas (as there is limited time for mailing) and a physical card for the new year?

What other "off" times of the year would you suggest sending out cards?

I send New Year's cards. Usually an oriental theme focusing on prosperity or something about the Chinese New Year. We are in the Year of the Rabbit, heading into the Year of the Dragon.

Chinese New Year: 2012 — Infoplease.com http://www.infoplease.com/spot/chine...#ixzz1hN3JNS93

Breathing Fire into the New Year

Legend has it that in ancient times, Buddha asked all the animals to meet him on Chinese New Year. Twelve came, and Buddha named a year after each one. He announced that the people born in each animal's year would have some of that animal's personality. Those born in dragon years are innovative, brave, and passionate. Salvador Dali, John Lennon, and Mary-Louise Parker were all born in the year of the dragon.

Other Dragon years: 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000
