Default Resumes on your Website
Hello all!

I'm working on my website (almost done!) and am wondering if any of you have actually posted your resume' on your website. I'd like to let everyone know about the 30 years of experience I have, and what I've done... but I don't know if I should set it up like a 'normal' resume'.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Becky

Maybe you could setup a Bio or About Me page on your website and give a narrative of your experiences as well as maybe some personal things about you, such as your hobbies rather than a traditionally styled resume. Maybe you could offer to send them a formal resume if they ask for one.

Just my opinion: By posting an actual resume, you're sending a message (although unintentional) that you are trying to be someone's employee. I think you can have a really great bio which outlines your skills. A prospective client doesn't need to know all the different places you've worked, they need to know how much experience you have and what your skills are. Good luck to you!

I never posted a resume on my site but posted a comprehensive bio instead, listing my achievements, skills, various related experience....you know, whatever you would include on the 'about us' page.

I agree that a resume sends a message other than 'business owner'.

I agree as well that a comprehensive bio is a better idea. Besides, do you really want to post that much personal information for the whole world to see?

Thanks to you all for your input. A bio sounds like a much better way to go. Gotta get out of the 'corporate employee' mindset!

Hello,

I strongly suggest that you do not post a resume on your site, and quite frankly, some elements of a bio should not be included either. Instead, you should create an About Us or similarly title page, which highlights your experience and capabilities -- as part of your entire "brand identity".

I agree with what stated also. I would put any pertinent information in an "About Us" section that highlights your experience etc.

I pretty much agree with everyone else on this subject. Your website would look more professional with an "About Us" page that briefly describes your relevant experiences in the services you are providing. You will need to think of yourself as a business instead of an individual in everything you do.

Love the bio approach and will make sure to incorporate that.
