Default Potential client information request...
Hiya!
How do you handle it when a potential client contacts you, the two of you decide on what they want do next, and they don't follow thru? Do I make one last attempt or put her in the mailing list only file?

I'd make one last attempt and keep her on your mailing list; she may come back in the future.

This has happened to me too. I would definitely follow up within a week. In your email or phone call offer a couple of dates and times to talk and ask them to let you know which day or time that they prefer. A lot of times, they know that they need assistance, but they are just too busy to sit down and allot time to it.

I spoke with a potential client the other day who was reviewing 100 responses. Perhaps the potential client is still in their fact finding stage? In another example, I had a potential client contact me 8 months later! I kept him on my mailing list and he was thanking me for keeping in touch! The key is to folow up!

Good luck!

I would definately do as Julia said. Following up is essential.

Personally I have been wanting to have the windows tinted in one of our vehicles and I spoke with someone about it in Decemeber. It went right out of my head, until I recieved the 3rd follow up from this man!

Yes, as everyone has said here *definitely* follow up - let your potential client know that you're there for them, ready to talk and as Doreen said, try to set a specific date/time for this and then be prepared to seal the deal. Use the opportunity to show the portential client just how you can make their business life easier, where you'd fit into the scheme of things, etc.
If it's been a week or more already then go ahead and get in touch today! Good luck!

I agree, follow up!

In my experience, these lapses are caused by overwhelm or by perceived lack of time - so follow-up with your prospect quickly. I've found it works very well when you give a detailed list of what needs to be done to accomplish your first goal/task. This will give you and your client both a firm understanding of what is going to happen, and usually helps the process along.
