Potential Client has Typos - how to use as marketing tool?
I have a meeting next week with a potential client and I found several typos on their website. I'm trying to decide how or if I should bring this up and how to use this to my advantage? Ie: I did notice..... on your website and you can correct that by doing this ....
As a demonstrative of my qualifications.

Hi Sarah,
I would suggest that you tactfully point out the typos. I have done this several times for both clients and potential clients and have always received a positive response welcoming the input. If there are numerous typos I usually point out one or two and then suggest to the client that, for their benefit and in order to appear as professional as possible and for a small fee, you may review their site for any other errors. You could also just do it for free, something I have also done. The important thing to remember is to do it in a positive manner and in such a way as to not offend them.

the site is very short, it took me about 7 minutes to read it and find the several typos... i'd probably just do it for free in the initial meeting. but i just have to find a tactful way to approach it. Good to know someone else has had the same experience!!! thank you

I always point out typos to people. I for one would want someone to tell me if there is a typo on my website. As Kate put it, just tactfully advise them of the errors.

I think this can be a great way of showcasing your potential editorial skills, highlighting your great eye for detail and proving yourself useful before the client has even contracted with you! I completely agree with everyone else that tactfully letting the client know is totally reasonable.

Great question! I recently pointed out errors to a friend- now I am trying to figure out to bring it back up on how I can help them in the future since it's after-the-fact
Re: Potential Client has Typos - how to use as marketing tool?
I recently did a project for a client reviewing his entire Web site for spelling, grammar, etc. I often find mistakes on Web sites I visit and think that there is a market for that service. The big question is how to approach the company without being offensive.
Re: Potential Client has Typos - how to use as marketing tool?
I'd point out that we all have typos, and our eyes often don't see our typos because our brains expect to see what we just wrote. So having someone else go through to catch the typos is ideal!
Re: Potential Client has Typos - how to use as marketing tool?
I would like to hear how others actually approach it - a Chamber of Commerce recruiter signed me up and their Linkedin is full of typos. I am not sure how to approach him without seeming like I am being critical.
