Default Local or internet for most clients?
I was wondering do most of you get clients from the internet or through local networking? I did a lot of networking when I was in the real estate business.

I haven't been doing this for very long, but the few clients that I have came from marketing via phone and with mailers. I haven't gotten any business from the internet yet, but remaining hopeful.

I am going to do a niche marketing toward insurance agencies and small businesses. I do not plan on getting a lot of clients through the internet but hope to get them through slave labor. (Mailing out info packets, brochures, postcards, etc.)

My first client was via Craigslist and nearly all clients following have been referrals and referrals of referrals, etc.
We did garner a few clients and projects via search results and/or bidding sites but the highest quality working relationships I've found are always referral based.

Both for me - I've worked with clients I've never met who have found me over the internet.

Although all 4 of my current clients are local, I was hired and did short-term projects for 2 internet-based clients.

At the beginning, when I first started my business, I networking online only. Therefore all my clients were through the internet. Since the beginning of this year, I've started to network in my local area and have a few local clients now.

I'm also seeing a lot of referrals too!

Hi

Both for me too. When I started it was mainly local, but then went more virtual. I do get most of my work today from press releases, articles, networking, etc. I've started doing more local networking lately and realized how much I missed it. It was fun to get all dressed up and get to some business happy hours and pass out some business cards. There's a lot of opportunities in our areas for these.

I also get a lot of my clients today networking online. Just being where my clients are helps.

Thanks!
