I just talked with my new client. One of the job I will be assisting with is getting his website up - after 3 years! He notified the company that was supposed to have done the work that he was cancelling their agreement.

During our conversation I learned that the old company has submitted a proposal to build his website - a simple site - for $5,000 and was going to charge $1,100 for monthly maintenance. My client hadn't really read the agreement and is excited he had not signed it.

I can't image anyone being so unethical as to charge $1,100 a month to host/maintain a simple website for a small non-profit.
